I’ve already told you here about my dilemma with the effects of water on the hair and skin. Before moving to London I knew I would have to buy a shower filter to remove chlorine and other metals from the water, which here is so heavily treated that dishes (and everything else you wash) gets “white” residue. Until my filter arrived, I was throwing a jar of filtered water in my hair, as a final rinse, and spraying Vichy thermal water (great trick, by the way). And resisting the temptation to go out and buy a lot of moisturizing masks…

Once the filter was installed, I noticed the difference right away. That feeling of “tightness” in the skin is gone and my hair became more loose and soft. Before it was so dry and the tips so entangled that I almost had to pay a visit to the hairdresser. Not a single leave-in, moisturizer or serum was helping (and I brought almost my entire collection…)

Well, the filter I bought from Amazon is pretty simple and lasts six months until you need to replace the cartridge. It cost 21 pounds, well priced. Doing some search, I found more sophisticated models, with vitamin C and other ingredients that improve hydration, but I’m not sure if they really work. Maybe in the future, it will be worth a test. For now, this basic one is all I need!
