You may not know Living Proof (yet) but surely covet Jennifer Aniston’s hair, right? She is the face of the brand that puts a lot of science behind the shampoos, conditioners, masks and leave-ins. Living Proof was founded in 2004 by Dr. Bob Langer, an MIT scientist, and two investors, Jon Flint and Dr. Amir Nashat. The goal was to create an innovative brand and to revolutionise the beauty industry. A team was put together to find solutions for the most common hair problems (dryness, frizz, dullness and lack of volume) and they discovered 2 precious molecules: OFPMA and PBAE. After many trials, they were able to scientifically prove the efficacy of both and Living Proof was born!
Jennifer became part of the picture after testing the products and loving the results. She says the greatest difference lies in the fact that they don’t rely on silicone and other ingredients only made for temporary improvements. Besides being a spokesperson and shareholder, Jen also collaborates in product development. Along with a group of scientists and hair stylists (including her friend Chris McMillan, who created the infamous “Rachel”), they are constantly trying to address our main concerns. The “Good Hair Day” videos on YouTube evidence how women are unhappy with theirs, including Jennifer herself.
Since I learned about the brand (and because I’m Aniston’s fan, must confess), I’ve tried a few products and really liked the results, especially the Restore mask and the Satin hair serum. You may not get Jennifer’s hair but it’s worth trying! In the UK, Living Proof is available at Space NK, Marks & Spencer, John Lewis and Cult Beauty. Check the complete list here.
