Even if you have oily skin, at some point, especially in the winter, you’ll need a moisturiser. And thanks to technology, the old excuse of them leaving the skin ‘sticky’ and overly shiny is now history with a vast range of mattifying products. Here is my test with 3 of them:

– Effaclar Mat+, La Roche Posay: it’s amazing how it controls shine and diminishes the appearance of large pores. Its long lasting effect was another positive note and in the long run, it seems to improve the skin texture (I never used it continually, so I can’t really tell).

– Normaderm Total Mat, Vichy: I have already tried other products from this range, however this one surprised me. The gel texture is really light and the effect lasts and lasts… Note: the product is not available in the UK but I guess the closest option will be Normaderm Anti-Blemish Care.

– Lysalpha Matifiante Creme, SVR: it’s been replaced by Sebiaclear Mat + Pores but I believe the formula remains pretty much the same. The texture is equally light but the hydration and mattifying powers don’t disappoint.

The verdict: all of them do a really god job but Effaclar’s ability to ‘shrink’ pores won my heart and because of that, it ends up doubling as a great primer!
