Orlando Pita is a kind of hair rock star. The Cuban born stylist can be easily seen at the backstage of the most sought after fashion shows and signing editorials for Vogue, Allure, W… From classic hairdos to the more elaborate ones, going through extensions and wigs, nothing is impossible to him. That’s why, many celebrities swear by his scissors at Orlo, the New Yorker salon where the price for a cut is U$1000. Cool.
Curiously, Pita’s career began accidentally, when his brother was working as assistant to a photographer and needed someone to take care of the hair in a shooting. He had almost no experience but took the chance and in less than a year was in Paris working with Irving Penn, Steven Meisel and Peter Lindbergh. Among his memorable creations are the late 90s and early 2000s Dior shows when he partnered with John Galliano and Pat McGrath. In many shows, Pita defied gravity and elaborated some architectural hairdos (ironically, he first wanted to be an architect).
Today, besides the shows, campaigns and editorials, Orlando also manages an argan oil based haircare range that goes under the radar, selling in the US at Amazon, Costco and other selected stockists. Reading the rave reviews, the products can be sold in a low profile way but are simply amazing!
